The Caraga region is swelling with pride as Tandag City’s very own Chrystel Mae Correos has officially advanced to the Top 40 of the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 pageant. The selection, announced on April 12, 2026, marks a pivotal milestone for the candidate, who was chosen by the selection committee based on an accumulated score from public votes, sponsor preferences, and her stellar performance during the recent Evening Gown competition.
Tandag City’s bet opens up about her personal life, her identical twin sister, her healing adventures in nature, and the sheer hard work it took to bring herself to the Miss Universe Philippines stage.

Correos has been a standout throughout the preliminary rounds. During the Evening Gown segment, she garnered significant praise for her high-impact presence in a Rian Fernandez embellished gown, which featured dramatic white feather plumes that emphasized both volume and movement. Her ability to command the stage with such poise has positioned her as one of the delegates to watch as the competition narrows. "It is an honor to carry the banner of Tandag City and the entire Caraga region," Correos has shared in previous interviews, emphasizing that her participation is not just about the crown, but about spotlighting the beauty and heritage of Surigao del Sur on a national platform.
As the pageant moves toward its grand conclusion, the MUPH organization has officially rescheduled the coronation night to May 2, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Though, during the Miss Universe Philippines 2026 competition, Chrystel Mae Correos of Tandag City did not win any of the core special titles or major corporate sponsor awards.
The major award categories during the coronation night were heavily dominated by the eventual winner, Bea Millan-Windorski of La Union (who took home 14 sponsor awards), and Nicole Borromeo of Cebu Province (who took home 8).

While Chrystel Mae Correos put on a memorable performance—especially during the preliminary interview and the runway showcases—she finished her MUPH 2026 journey as an unplaced official delegate representing Tandag City. (DK)
